Dr. Erin Russell joined us in 2010 after 12 rewarding years practicing exotic and small animal medicine in New York City. She is not a stranger to the Northwest as she spent her high school years in Federal Way. She moved to NYC after finishing her undergraduate and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 at Washington State University.
The Veterinary Medical Association of New York City (VMA of NYC) presented Dr. Russell with a Merit Award in 2007 for recognition of her significant contribution to the VMA of NYC and the advancement of the veterinary profession and in 2002, was co-awarded the Outstanding Service to Veterinary Medicine Award for her efforts at Ground Zero. Dr. Russell also served on the VMA of NYC's Executive Board from 2003 -2006. In addition to volunteering for the VMA, she volunteered annually as the attending veterinarian at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Dr. Russell is adept at working up and managing complex medical and behavioral cases. Her favorite areas of interest are dermatology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, preventative medicine and client education.
When Dr. Russell is not practicing medicine, she loves to travel. Her favorite adventures have included hiking the cliffs around Siberia's Lake Baikal, trekking above 17,000 feet in the Tibet Himalayas, and dancing the tango in Buenos Aires. She is married to her high school sweetheart from Vashon Island who is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Russell lives in an A-frame in the woods with her husband, two young boys and a baker's dozen of rescue chickens.
