License Veterinary Technician
Mark Fink
Mark began working with animals in 1999 and hasn’t taken a break since then. He became a licensed veterinary technician in 2006 after earning a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology from Wilson College. Between the third and fourth years he completed a 240-hour internship at Alameda East (now a VCA) Hospital in Denver, CO where his favorite television show, Emergency Vets was filmed for Animal Planet. Mark has been seen in two Humane Society videos and on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Back on the East Coast Mark pursued his focus on many prestigious institutions of medicine where he could learn the most. He worked with animals at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Ashburn, VA, USAMRIID (U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases) in Frederick, MD and The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. It was at NIH where Mark further concentrated on his main interest of anesthesia. He trained extensively along with human anesthesiologists at The Clinical Center and gained an in-depth understanding of monitoring, dynamics and anesthetic safety while overseeing anesthesia on animal patients with procedures lasting over ten hours. At this time, Mark has been involved in over 9,000 general anesthetic procedures.
Mark currently resides in Redmond with his wife and a 14-year old border collie named Hoppy who enjoys barking, destroying their wood floors and eating chicken. Mark and his wife love Washington State outdoors and visiting the San Juan Islands and Olympic National Park. Mark can frequently be found waiting in long ferry lines and/or reading textbooks.
He is very much looking forward to continuing his lifelong interest in veterinary medicine, teaching others and learning even more from his colleagues on the Brookfield Animal Hospital team.
